Replacing your air filter is one of the easiest and most effective things you can do to make sure that your AC runs smoothly and efficiently.
Clogged, dirty filters block normal airflow and reduce your air conditioner’s ability to absorb heat. Clean or replace your air conditioning system’s filter every month during the summer.
With the poor air quality we have been experiencing, it may be a good idea to look at changing your filter even sooner!
Filters need more frequent attention if your AC is in constant use, is subjected to excessive dust, or if you have fur-shedding pets. Single-room air conditioners will have a filter mounted in the grill that faces into the room.
If you are curious as to how much power your AC unit is consuming, the below formula can help you calculate its approximate usage.
watts / 100 x hours per day x days per month = kwh consumed
3500 / 1000 x 24 x 31 = 2604 kWh
If you had the above noted air conditioner running for 24 hours a day, for 31 days in a row, it would increase your consumption by 2,604 kwh. (Amounts are estimated, please refer to the watts of your specific appliances and your specific run times)
